MADISON, Wis. — February 10, 2012 — Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted market leader for enterprise webcasting and lecture capture, continues its long term sponsorship of EDUCAUSE by webcasting the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) 2012 Annual Meeting taking place in Austin, Texas and online.
The 2012 Annual Meeting, which will be February 13-15, will discuss opportunities and challenges facing teachers, such as those associated with digital literacy in light of the arrival of mobile computing, ways to address and incorporate the emerging field of learning analytics and if social media and networking are accelerating progress toward active learning.
Participants can register online for the hybrid event, which will be webcast live to an online audience via Mediasite. In addition, ten webcasts, including four general sessions, will be open and available to the general public.
EDUCAUSE has been successfully creating a hybrid annual conference for three years, and providing public webcasts of their general and featured sessions for the past eight, which has led to thousands more online participants and increased attendance overall. From their desktops, 115 virtual attendees from 89 campuses around the country will connect to the more than 650 in-person ELI Annual Meeting participants.
“EDUCAUSE has a long history of responding to the needs of its members. Streaming live and on-demand sessions provides a great resource for members unable to attend the actual event, or who prefer to create their own on-campus event. They can actively participate from anywhere – their home, office or even a mobile device – and benefit from the conference experience in Austin,” said Victoria Fanning, director of hybrid and online conferences and events.
An EDUCAUSE Platinum Partner and event webcasting provider since 2005, Mediasite by Sonic Foundry is a leading webcasting platform for hybrid events and lecture capture. Trusted by more than 950 colleges and universities, the patented Mediasite webcasting and content management system quickly and cost-effectively automates the capture, management, delivery and search of rich media presentations that combine audio, video and accompanying graphics for live or on-demand viewing.
