Key EDUCAUSE 2008 Sessions Streamed Live For the First Time with Mediasite

Orlando, Fla – (EDUCAUSE booth #1233) – October 30, 2008 – Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management, today announced that the company’s Event Services group will be hosting live webcasts of key sessions at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference. The premier higher education information technology event is being held October 28-31 in Orlando, Florida.

The conference, themed “Interaction, Ideas, Inspiration,” provides an opportunity to network and learn with individuals who use, manage or lead information technology in higher education. The conference has been webcasting with Mediasite for several years, but this is the first year it’s going live, one of several changes made to enrich the conference experience. Live and on-demand webcasts of the general, featured and point/counterpoint sessions will give attendees more flexibility in choosing whether to attend sessions in person, watch the online stream on monitors from dedicated spaces around the conference or view from their homes or offices if they are unable to attend in person. In addition, the live streaming supports the EDUCAUSE 2008 Green Initiatives by delivering the information to remote viewers, saving air and auto emissions.

“We are honored to not only support EDUCAUSE as a silver partner, but also as their webcasting provider since 2004. One of the most valuable things about this conference is the ability to exchange ideas in different ways, and streaming sessions live with Mediasite helps make that possible. It gives individuals a choice on how to spend time and get information and encourages collaboration and engagement,” said Rimas Buinevicius, chairman and CEO of Sonic Foundry. “We anticipate that streaming the sessions will provide greater accessibility and a deeper learning experience for both those attending the conference and watching from home.”

Also at EDUCAUSE, Sean Brown, vice president of higher education at Sonic Foundry, will lead the discussion, “How Lecture Capture Enhances Student Performance,” on Friday, October 31 at 9:30 a.m. Distinguished panelists include James F. Craig, professor and educational consultant, University of Maryland, Baltimore, David R. Feeney, director of digital education, Temple University, David Sanchez, director of media technology services, University of New Mexico and Russell Scaduto, director of education technology, College of Medicine, The Pennsylvania State University. Panelists will be presenting original data on student outcomes.

In booth #1233, Sonic Foundry will showcase Mediasite 5.0 – the next generation release of its award-winning webcasting and lecture capture platform. A new cross-platform Mediasite Building Block for Blackboard will also be announced.

Since its introduction in 2003, Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite has set the standard as a transformational communication medium for delivering critical information and sharing knowledge. The patented Mediasite webcasting and knowledge management system quickly and cost-effectively automates the capture, management, delivery and search of rich media presentations that combine audio, video and accompanying graphics for live or on-demand viewing.

The EDUCAUSE 2008 Annual Conference (http://net.educause.edu/E08) will be webcasted by Sonic Foundry’s Event Services group, which consists of systems engineers and project managers with an extensive knowledge of audio/video production and webcasting. The group and its strategic partners supply technical webcasting services and expertise to organizations who seek to complement their conference or event with viewing over the web. Since its launch in January 2007, the Event Services group has provided live and on-demand webcasting for clients ranging from Fortune 500 corporations and university associations to sporting events and charitable organizations.
