Live Webinar – Six Lessons Learned After Five Years of Conference Webcasting

MADISON, Wis. – August 3, 2009 – Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management, will host a live webinar in which Sean Michael Dargan of Games+Learning+Society will present six reasons why webcasting is crucial for a successful conference.

WHEN: Tuesday, August 4, 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Central
WHERE: To register for this complimentary webinar, visit www.sonicfoundry.com/webinar.

The Society knew there was a broader audience for their conference content than the people who attended on-site. So while webcasting began as a way to take the conference to people who couldn’t attend, it is now a vital resource for both on-site and online attendees as well as presenters.

Sean Michael Dargan, Conference Coordinator, will reveal:

  • How capturing more is better than webcasting less
  • Why he’s confident webcasting will never cannibalize his attendance
  • What to look for in a webcasting service provider
  • How they decide what to record
  • Their thought process for when to make sessions publicly available vs. secure vs. paid-only access

Presenter:
Sean Michael Dargan produces the Games+Learning+Society Conference — now in its sixth year — for the UW-Madison School of Education. This 400-person, three-day conference examines the use of video games as a learning tool — both in and out of schools — and the effects of digital media literacy on education in general. The GLS group is based in Madison, but its affiliates hail from across the country and the world.

Before joining GLS, Sean spent five years producing large outdoor fundraising events with thousands of participants in 12 states and seven countries (AIDSRide, AVON Breast Cancer 3-Day, and AIDS Vaccine Ride); he is also an accomplished songwriter and bandleader with six albums to his credit. He lives in Madison with his wife and daughter.

Moderator:
Shane Tracy, Sonic Foundry’s Director of Event Services and Training
