Sonic Foundry Announces Mediasite Playback Support for Android™

Market leader for rich media webcasting and lecture capture now supports world’s fastest growing mobile technology user base

MADISON, Wis. — March 7, 2012 — Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted market leader for lecture capture, enterprise and event webcasting, today announced availability of Mediasite playback on Android mobile devices. This announcement supports the ongoing evolution of Sonic Foundry’s mobile strategy and commitment to support the growing base of Android users worldwide. 

According to the Google Mobile Blog, Android has a year-over-year growth rate of 250 percent, with 850,000 new devices coming online each day and more than 300 million devices already in use around the world. By engineering for Android support, Sonic Foundry is responding to both the platform growth and growing adoption of Mediasite 6, its most recent webcasting platform release which leverages live HD mobile streaming to radically accelerate the adoption of lecture capture and video content management for education institutions, corporations and government at any stage in their video streaming initiatives.
