ANAHEIM, Calif. – EDUCAUSE Booth #915 – October 11, 2010 – Sonic Foundry, Inc.(NASDAQ: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting, lecture capture and knowledge management, and EDUCAUSE Gold Partner, will stream four concurrent session tracks plus the keynotes at EDUCAUSE 2010 to virtual audiences, making it the largest hybrid event in the history of the conference. The conference takes place October 12 – 15 in Anaheim, California.
While EDCUAUSE has streamed sessions on-demand via the Mediasite webcasting platform since 2005, this is the third consecutive year conference organizers have engaged audiences with a hybrid event, delivering both online and face-to-face experiences.
By way of their desktops, 2,000 virtual attendees from 300 campuses around the country will connect to the in-person participants. EDUCAUSE has added a number of new features that will bridge communication between the two groups including an Event Planning Kit to facilitate remote discussion, Comment/Tweet tabs unique to each session to encourage specific conversation strings, and live webcasts of more than forty sessions, streamed by Sonic Foundry Event Services.
“We are pleased to once again partner with Sonic Foundry to offer a blended event that will give individuals the chance to learn and network with colleagues without leaving their campus, and to allow our onsite attendees to be able to connect with their peers in a new way,” Julie K. Little, EDUCAUSE Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development. “We value the time-honored partnership with Sonic Foundry and look forward to their continued support of this event.”
The online program is available on the EDUCAUSE conference website at http://www.educause.edu/E2010/Program/Online. The conference is offering public access to select streams including three general sessions and 10 featured sessions, including three sponsored by Next Generation Learning Challenges.
Since 2003, Sonic Foundry’s lecture capture platform and services have set the standard for delivering exceptional instruction and sharing knowledge online. Trusted by more than 800 educational institutions worldwide, the Mediasite lecture capture and content management system automates the recording, delivery and management of multimedia presentations that combine video and accompanying visual aids for live or on-demand viewing.
