Sonic Foundry Live Streams Education Technology Conference, BbWorld 2014

Mediasite Events to capture and manage live and on-demand conference sessions, allowing Blackboard to reach larger global audience

LAS VEGAS, Nev., BbWorld Booth #605 — July 17, 2014 — Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted leader for video creation and management solutions, today announced that it will live stream BbWorld, Blackboard’s annual user conference this week in Las Vegas Nev., in an effort to broaden the audience reach of the conference.

Blackboard is the world’s leading education technology company that is reimagining education by advancing new learning models. BbWorld, which takes place July 15 to 17, is the company’s annual user conference that attracts more than 2,000 administrators, academic leaders, instructors and technical experts from around the world for networking and sharing best practices. Mediasite Events will stream the keynotes and select sessions live, and the recordings will also be available on-demand for review.

At booth #605, Sonic Foundry will show the latest innovations to Mediasite Enterprise Video Platform, the most flexible and open approach to creating, uploading, managing and distributing all video-based content, along with Mediasite Showcase, the new interactive portal for organizations to collect, spotlight and share their live and on-demand video content with private and public communities. In addition, Sonic Foundry will show the Mediasite Building Block for Blackboard Learn, the company’s flagship learning environment — any Mediasite-recorded lecture, presentation or meeting, whether live or on-demand, can be published to Blackboard Learn. Both Mediasite and Blackboard Learn are conformant with the IMS Global Learning Consortium’s Basic Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standard, providing seamless integration and single sign-on for Mediasite content in Blackboard Learn.

“With Mediasite, faculty are flipping classrooms and preserving classroom learning, grades are improving and schools becoming increasingly competitive with online programs. Our integration with Blackboard Learn means students have anytime access to Mediasite rich video recordings from their managed courses within the learning environment,” said Rob Lipps, executive vice president, Sonic Foundry. “We’re honored to continue our long-standing partnership with Blackboard and for the first time record and stream BbWorld to extend the knowledge sharing long after the conference has ended.”

Mediasite by Sonic Foundry is the video management, lecture capture and academic webcasting platform of choice for 1,250 colleges and universities in 58 countries. Last year more than 2 million hours of academic video were created with Mediasite, receiving 30 million views.
