MADISON, Wis. – August 24, 2011 – Sonic Foundry, Inc.(NASDAQ: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting and knowledge management today announced its Event Services group will webcast live presentations at Event Camp Twin Cities, linking individuals participating in pods across the Unites States and around the world via Mediasite.
At the event, held August 25 – 26, remote and in-person attendees will explore new ways to use meeting technology, integrated gaming and social media combined with live streaming webcasts via Mediasite to collaborate in this experimental hybrid meeting.
“Sonic Foundry is more than just a webcasting partner for us. They jump in with both feet and bring reliable technology, thought-leadership and the opportunity to work with great people,” said Samuel J. Smith, co-founder of Event Camp Twin Cities. “At the same time Mediasite allows us to amplify our event and collaborate in real-time with several pod sites plus people all over the world from their desktops. If it weren’t for webcasting our event would be limited to the 120 people onsite. The webcast library gives us incredible reach beyond the live event. Last year we had more than 1,000 views of the full on-demand program. That’s powerful.”
Event Camp Twin Cities will be joined by five remote pods across the globe:
San Jose, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Toronto, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Individuals can also participate from their desktops through an interactive social media portal leveraging Facebook that includes live webcasts via Mediasite, and by following the conference on Twitter using hashtag #ectc11.
Over the course of this week’s events, attendees have twenty sessions to choose from including two by Erica St. Angel, vice president of marketing for Sonic Foundry:
- “Fortune Telling: 5 Predications for Funding Virtual and Hybrid Events” (live on August 25 at 1:45 p.m. Central)
- Pecha Kucha, “Beyond Twitter: A Real-Life Tale of How Attendees Socialize Online” Erica St. Angel (live on August 26 during the Social Media Learning Block beginning at 8:10 a.m. Central)
Registration for the virtual attendee pass is free. To register, visit http://eventcamptwincities2011.eventbrite.com/.
Event Camp was created by the #eventprofs Twitter community in 2010. Since its first event in New York, Event Camps have been held in Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Chicago. Mediasite presentation archives from Event Camp Twin Cities 2010 are available at http://eventcamptwincities.com/post-event/.
The conferences will be webcast by Sonic Foundry’s Event Services, a leading provider of webcasting services for hybrid events and virtual conferences. The group supplies technical webcasting services and expertise to organizations who seek to complement their conference or event with viewing over the web. Since its launch in January 2007, the Event Services group has provided live and on-demand webcasting for clients ranging from Fortune 500 corporations and university associations to sporting events and charitable organizations.
