MADISON, Wis. — May 7, 2012 — Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted market leader for lecture capture, enterprise and event webcasting, opens its three-day Mediasite User Conference, UNLEASH the Edge, today at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
The sixth annual conference is the world’s best education and networking venue for Mediasite enthusiasts from around the globe. This year’s conference is the most well-attended to date with a 26 percent increase in overall attendees, including participants from 37 states and 12 countries, and a 30 percent increase over last year in online attendance.
Regardless of where registered attendees choose to participate from, everyone will have access to all conference sessions streamed live and on-demand via Mediasite plus unparalleled online networking opportunities including:
- Live UNLEASH discussions rooms in the Mediasite User Group Community
- A new UNLEASH 2012 Mobile App
- Real time updates via Twitter, use #mediasite to follow the conversation
- The Mediasite fan page on Facebook
- Daily posts to World of Webcast, Sonic Foundry’s blog
The conference features nearly 50 speakers across three breakout tracks, with three-quarters presented by Mediasite users, such as the NASA Safety Center, the University of Auckland, North Carolina State University, Northrop Grumman, New York Law School, Ontario Hospital Association and Lockheed Martin. Back by popular demand, the information-packed Pecha Kuchas are short-form presentations that challenge presenters to share their most important ideas in exactly six minutes and 40 seconds using 20 auto-advancing slides. Attendees will also have the chance to actively participate in the new Wall of Ideas and Idea Roundtables, two-day collaborative opportunities to contribute their top Mediasite priorities and share their feedback and future goals directly with Sonic Foundry’s product strategy team.
“UNLEASH feeds my creative side, and at the same time I discover my inner “tech geek”. The conference is innovative and pushes the envelope on incorporating new technology – such as the conference’s new mobile app,” said Mona Aldana-Ramirez, director of retention support services at San Antonio College. “I especially enjoy networking with people from all around the world and discussing ideas and tips. I leave knowing that I can utilize Mediasite and other technologies in many more ways. Sonic Foundry takes care of the details that make for an invigorating experience that recharges my “go get ‘em” spirit. I leave with the UNLEASH advantage. It is what all conference experiences should be like!”
“We are thrilled that as the Mediasite User Community grows, so does UNLEASH, making it the largest global gathering for Mediasite users and webcasting professionals,” said Gary Weis, Sonic Foundry chief executive officer. “Each year our attendees network with other Mediasite users and the Sonic Foundry team, forming valuable professional relationships. It’s also an unparalleled opportunity for us to hear firsthand and en masse what the user community is looking for next from Mediasite, and I attribute our continued success in part to this unvarnished, unprecedented deep dive by our clients and engineers into our webcasting platform and roadmap.”
