Mediasite by Sonic Foundry to Record Future of Technology in Education Conference in London for Live and On-Demand Viewing

Mediasite webcasts will create online video library of knowledge about IT trends in classrooms

MADISON, Wis. — October 4, 2012 — Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted market leader for video management and academic, enterprise and event webcasting, today announced its Mediasite webcasting platform will, for the first time, webcast the popular Future of Technology in Education (FOTE) conference this week in London, England.

FOTE, in its fifth year, is organized by the University of London Computer Centre (ULCC) and discusses trends and technologies that will impact teaching and learning in the next few years. This year’s conference takes place October 5 at the Senate House in London, and more than 300 IT directors and managers, learning technologists, practitioners and anyone else interested in educational technology will attend.

The conference will shine a light on a few of the educational technologies identified in New Media Consortium’s Technology Outlook: UK Tertiary Education 2011-2016 report and the recent Gartner Hype Cycle for Education including mobile devices, digital preservation of research data, gamification and MOOCs.

All sessions will be live streamed via Mediasite 6, allowing attendees, both on-site and online, to watch sessions from their mobile devices in real time. The recordings will also be archived for on-demand viewing for review after the conference. Conference speakers hail from Nokia, IBM, Microsoft, JISC Advance Nexus, Manchester Metropolitan University and Hult International Business School. To join remotely, register on the Mediasite registration page using the ‘FOTE2012’ passcode.

“We are excited to be live-streaming our popular annual conference with the help of Sonic Foundry,” said Frank Steiner, Marketing Manager at ULCC. “Our FOTE events are regularly over-subscribed and live-streaming helps remove physical limitations imposed by the conference venue, allowing us to reach and engage an even larger audience.”

Trusted by more than 1,000 colleges and universities worldwide, the Mediasite webcasting and video content management system quickly and cost-effectively automates the capture, management, delivery and search of live and on-demand streaming videos and rich media presentations.
