Sonic Foundry Partners with the Sloan Consortium to Webcast International Conference on Online Learning

Select sessions to be streamed live and on-demand via Mediasite 6 to connect onsite and online attendees

MADISON, Wis. — October 10, 2012 — Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted market leader for video management and academic, enterprise and event webcasting, continues its Coast-to-Coast technology partnership with the Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) by using Mediasite to webcast the 18th Annual International Conference on Online Learning this week in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

This is the fifth year Sloan-C has offered attendees a blended or hybrid conference via Mediasite for this conference, which takes place October 10-12 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. The conference provides the latest research and best practices in online and blended learning programs and is geared to experienced professionals as well as newcomers to online learning. It’s especially designed to meet the needs of college-level faculty and administrators, instructional technology and media professionals, instructional designers and trainers in public and private sector organizations.

Select sessions, including the keynotes, plenary sessions, featured sessions, topical information sessions and key vendor showcase sessions, will be webcast live via Mediasite 6, allowing online audiences to watch the sessions from their desktops or mobile devices. The recordings will also be archived for on-demand viewing post-conference. Sloan-C expects about 1100 of the 2650 attendees to participate remotely via the virtual attendance option. Remote participants will be fully engaged in the conference, able to post questions in each session and participate in discussions with the conference Facebook Group and Twitter, using #aln12.

“With the interest in online learning exploding, our annual meeting takes on even greater importance. Our relationship with Mediasite helps those with schedule or budget restrictions that don’t permit them to travel to Orlando. They can still get the full conference experience, important and timely information and even the opportunity to interact and question speakers and panelist right from the comfort of their offices or homes by participating through our virtual attendance option via Mediasite. Plus, those on-site can go back and review what they learned anytime on-demand,” said Bruce Chaloux, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sloan-C. “We’re happy to continue this long-term partnership with Sonic Foundry to deliver high quality video to our on-site and remote attendees, and with our virtual pass, each year our overall attendance increases.”

Matthew McCurdy, Associate VP of Education for Sonic Foundry, will be a featured speaker at the event, presenting “Capture and Instructional Technology: How Does it All Fit Together?
